Many people believe that a variety of medical conditions can be treated with MSM. Benefits of the dietary supplement have not been thoroughly studied, however, and it is unlikely that a single compound can be useful for treating a number of different conditions. Some of the claimed health benefits of MSM include the treatment and/or prevention of Alzheimer's disease, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, and yeast infections.

What Are Possible Health Benefits of MSM?

MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) is a naturally occurring compound found in many foods and available as a dietary supplement. People claim that MSM is beneficial for preventing and/or treating a variety of different conditions. Some of these claimed MSM benefits include:
 
Clearly, it would be highly unlikely for any one compound to really work for all these various conditions. Indeed, there is very little evidence to suggest that MSM is beneficial for most of these uses (see Does MSM Work? for more information).
