Benefits of MSM (Cont.)

Possible Mechanisms for MSM Benefits

The MSM molecule contains sulfur and is a source for sulfur that the body needs to make certain amino acids. However, most people get plenty of sulfur through eating protein. Researchers think that MSM might decrease inflammation and may reduce homocysteine levels. High homocysteine levels may increase the risk of heart disease, strokes, and hardening of the arteries (atherosclerosis).

MSM Use in Children

Children may be more susceptible to the side effects and toxicities of drugs and supplements, including MSM. Do not give your child MSM supplements without the approval of your child's healthcare provider.
